Any idea/thoughts/updates on when we might see some progress on the Bone?

  2. John says:

The Bone is currently in Texas with Butch.

  3. rye says:

    whats the bone? the 105?

  4. catman says:

Military guys rarely call airplanes and other equipment what some marketeer at Boeing, Lockheed, etc calls ’em. Rockwell called the B-1 the Lancer. Please. The F-16 is officially the Fighting Falcon, the F-105 is the Thunderchief, and so on. Nobody in uniform calls ’em these names. To us, the B-1 is the Bone (B-1 equals B-one which equals Bone, get it?) The F-16 is the Viper, and the F-105 is the Thud. Other airplanes have similar operational names based on some familiar aspect of the airplane. The Douglas F-4D Skyray was called the Ford. The F-100 was the Hun. F-111s were Aardvarks or Varks. The EF-111 was the Spark Vark. I could go on forever, but I think you get the idea.

  5. John says:

From what we heard from the guys at Dyess A.F.B. The Bone got its name from the local news paper 25 years ago forgetting to put the hyphen in B-One.
