The specifications for the Panasonic HDC-MDH1 video camera are satisfactory except for one major flaw as listed in the link provided. It is an European PAL format camera and you need to use an American NTSC format camera for uploads to Youtube. In other words the camera is not compatible with North American standards. Also the listing shows that it is out of stock at the link supplied. I suggest looking at some of the cams listed on this link.
The Panasonic AG-DVC20 or AG-HMC70 look interesting, but I’m sure there are other sites that have more comprehensive listings. I would suggest phoning this supplier to find out what recording medium these cameras use. Some of the camera shops in NYC or LA who have web sites may provide a camera to suit your needs. Hope this helps.

Bob- A good camera is just part of the requirement for making good model videos.
    1. HD camera
    2. Editing Software
    3. Shotgun Microphone

I use Pinnacle Studio for editing. It is inexpensive (approx. $125.00) and easy to learn. If you have editing capability then you shoot any footage you think might will be of interest and it is easy to cut out the bad stuff and save the rest.

The shotgun microphone cuts out the wind noise and tends to pickup just the sound from the model you are shooting.

I found a web site that lists features for “Camcorder Buying Guide), you might find it helpful.
