    Wow. I cannot believe that you are building and emplacing your main spar based on what some Chinese mold makers did in a static, plastic model! The spar in the plastic kit has nothing to do with flying or flight loads and everything to do with the plastic wings not bending under the weight of the plastic fuselage as it sits on a shelf somewhere. This is one of the dangers of building a model of a model. Your spars need to run span-wise in the wings like they do in the full sized version — just like they do in your Bone model. I think you’re courting disaster if you rely on that little stub to carry the flight loads of a turbine powered model the size of the Thud because there will be an enormous amount of unsupported wing aft of that little spar.

    Bob has 25 years of experience building airplanes, I’m sure he isn’t worried. He mentioned the racers he has built for people carry the same design.
